The Challenge: Disrupting the Heritage Category
- Launching a new whisky brand into a market dominated by century-old Scottish giants requires more than just a good label—it requires visual disruption. As the second brand for Trend Spirit, Storage needed to signal premium quality while carving out its own identity: The Modern Heritage.
-
Strategic Concept: Structural Storytelling
- The design moves beyond the 2D surface of the label, utilizing the bottle's physical form to tell the brand's story:
- The Grid System: The distinctive square-patterned glass is a structural metaphor for the distillery warehouse, where barrels age in rhythmic alignment.
- Haptic Design: In the premium sector, touch defines value. The embossed glass provides a tactile experience that conveys weight, craftsmanship, and permanence, instantly elevating the brand's perceived status.
-
The Solution: Geometry Meets Mythology
- The visual language balances raw geometric order with the soul of Scottish tradition:
- The "Barrel-House" Icon: A custom-designed crest merging the silhouette of a traditional dunnage warehouse with a whisky cask. It serves as a modern coat of arms for the brand.
- Palette: Copper, gold, and deep amber tones mirror the distillery's stills and the liquid itself, creating a sophisticated, monochromatic look that commands authority on the shelf.
-
The Impact: Award-Winning Performance
- In a category where it’s notoriously difficult to compete with established icons, Storage achieved remarkable results:
Recognition:
- Won 1st Prize at the Art of Packaging Awards (Premium Category).
- Retail Success: The unique bottle structure served as a key door-opener for major retail chains, providing the necessary "shelf standout" to attract premium consumers.
- Value Perception: The design successfully positions the product as a high-end craft spirit, allowing it to compete head-to-head with global market leaders.
