Showcasing creativity
Through outstanding project design

Executive Summary
- In 2022, following geopolitical shifts and supply chain disruptions due to the war in Ukraine and Russian sanctions, the European spirits industry faced a critical shortage of glass packaging. For Trend Glass, traditionally focused on tableware, this presented a strategic expansion opportunity. I was commissioned to design a series of 8 bespoke spirit bottles from the ground up, enabling the glassworks to pivot and capture a new market segment immediately.
-
Strategy: The City Series – Versatility by Design
- I developed a product line tailored to diverse market needs, from contemporary gins to traditional whiskies. Each of the 8 designs was named after a global metropolis to create a clear, marketable catalog:
- Berlin, Dubai, Madrid, Roma, Santiago, Sydney, Malmo, Geneva.
- The Goal: To create forms that are visually iconic yet fully optimized for mass-scale industrial production.
-
Industrial Engineering & Design Excellence
- This project required a transition from aesthetic artist to industrial designer. I focused on rigorous technical parameters essential for both the glassworks and the bottling plants:
- Technical Specifications: Detailed blueprints for bottles like Geneva (500 ml and 700 ml), managing glass weights (425 g to 540 g) and precise dimensions for height and diameter.
- Closure Compatibility: Engineered neck finishes to accommodate standard market closures, including cork and GPI thread systems.
- Form Optimization: The bottles were designed for seamless integration with high-speed bottling lines, minimizing breakage and ensuring labeling efficiency.
-
The Impact
- The project served as a major commercial success for the client:
- Strategic Pivot: Trend Glass successfully established a foothold in the spirit packaging sector.
- Economic Resilience: The series provided a reliable alternative for European producers during a period of extreme market volatility.
- Core Offering: The "City Series" has since become a foundational element of the glassworks' product portfolio.
